Our History

Toyo Koken K.K. has a long history of manufacturing in Japan.

Founded in Yokohama in 1957, the company still holds the largest market share in Japan as a designer, manufacturer, and distributor of winches, small electric hoists for the construction industry, and temporary lifting equipment.

The industrial manipulator "BALAMAN" was launched in 1977. Our flagship product, the BALAMAN, has been a bestseller with approximately 25,000 units delivered to all kinds of manufacturing sites, mainly in Japan.

From our base in Minami Alps City, Yamanashi Prefecture, we continue to work hard in applying our technical knowledge, expertise and skills to deliver products and services to meet customers’ needs.

Guided by our motto of “all sites are different”, we approach each site and working condition with a new set of eyes, and propose the optimal BALAMAN that has the most ergonomic design and precision controls for each and every situation.
